Though I’ve never base jumped in my life, it is one of my dreams. Realistically, I know it will likely never happen, so I live vicariously through a friend of mine. We work together, ride motorcycles together, and climb together every now and then. I love to hear stories about “Bridge Day” and jumping off the Eiger in Switzerland (along with some GoPro videos that will get anyone’s heart rate up).
Part of my web-page, especially the art and products I sell, are meant for people who aren’t always considered mainstream. The hope is to bring some of these people together. Base jumping is a small community, and needs no help being brought together by itself. My idea, which companies/sponsors such as Red Bull are already doing, is to bring people who like to jump off cliffs onto a site with people who live on the edge in foreign countries while defending our freedom, or carve canyons on a motorcycle.
In order to make a sticker of someone base jumping, accuracy was of the utmost importance. I wouldn’t dream of trying to fake body positioning or proper gear being used. I wanted to do a decal that showed the progress of a gainer. I talked to my adrenaline driven friend, and he said he had a picture that may help out.
He had many pictures taken while jumping at “Bridge Day” in West Virginia. One of his pictures was digitally enhanced to have one of his jumps in sequence. It was exactly what I needed.
I began to work on making the picture usable as a positive/negative, which took a bit of work. My hope is to later have a sequence of pictures from exit to parachute, but for now, I like where we ended. Plus, the amount of space that would be required to place a sticker of that size would be quite large.
Big thanks to James for helping both with the idea, and supplying an awesome picture. Though he isn’t currently sponsored, remember you saw him here first!
