American culture today is fascinated by displaying one’s life dreams, accomplishments, sorrows, or beliefs through some sort of artwork. Whether it be through song, tattoos, canvas, or sticker. It seems one can find as much philosophy on the bumper of a car as some modern textbooks.
I’ve never bought completely into putting my whole life on the back window of my car, but I did want a more discrete type of emblem on my car. I looked into having it made, but with design fees or the requirement to buy 100 of them…it never happened.
Years later, while discussing this very issue with a friend, he said that he wanted a similar type sticker. How difficult could it be to create stickers to look like whatever we wanted? Through a lengthy process and many years, here we are.
I’ve also always enjoyed many art mediums including airbrush, scratchboards, and sculpting. In my lifestyle/career, when a noteworthy individual leaves any type of specialized team, he is often given some type of “trophy” representing his time with a team. Some give plaques, some give oars, and others give countless types of tokens. While trying to break out of the standard “plaque club,” I found there is little artwork representing a more driven lifestyle. It is easy to find flowers, scenery, and objects…but what about art for the base-jumper, war-fighter, policemen, firefighters, etc? I’m not saying there isn’t product out there, because there is. People like JK from tacticaldrawings.com are phenomenal. In fact, I will likely never be that good. I just want to create a place where a little more extreme people have some options.
So here goes nothing. I would love to hear from you. Comments, suggestions, ideas. I’d also love to see where you put your artwork or sticker. Send us a picture, we’ll try and get it in our gallery.
