OODA Loops Patch

Representing the ever changing mindset, the OODA Loops patch is great for displaying on your pack, weapons cases, hat, lunchbox, or wherever patches can be placed.

This patch measures approximately 2 inches tall and 3 inches wide, contoured around the design.

What does OODA Loops mean? While our OODA Loops sticker and patch pokes fun that it’s a cereal, the OODA Loop model is a decision model credited to Air Force Colonel John Boyd. Basically, in order to make a decision or respond to a threat, you have to Observe the threat, Orient yourself to it, Decide what you’re going to do, and then Act.

The problem is, if anything interrupts that cycle of decision making, your brain has to start over. It has to see the change, orient yourself to respond to it, decide what you’re going to do, and then take action. During my time in the military, this was a widespread discussion. If you are constantly moving during an attack, the enemy has to keep restarting their “loop” in order to respond to the attack, and time is not always on your side. Due to the many OODA Loop conversations and practice in “real life”, the idea of this sticker and patch were born. So when you’re out there, display your OODA Loop patch with pride.
